30 years of house sitting experience in various countries.
 

Since 1980 I have had regular house sitting contracts several times a year. I started house sitting at 17 years old when, as a part-time nanny during the summer, I looked after a brilliant 2 year old girl every day from 12pm - 5pm. At the end of that summer the family went on a 3 week vacation and paid me to stay in their house and look after it and their German Shepherd.
 

After that I just seemed to keep getting house sitting requests from friends, neighbors, and colleagues. In 1992 I moved to the UK and the same thing happened there - I got repeated house sitting requests.
 

Finally I got so busy with house sitting that it was no longer necessary for me to have a separate home. So in June 2004 I gave up my apartment ("flat" - as it was located in the UK) and became a full-time professional house sitter.
